Creative Ideas for children...

I have been pinning ideas for arts and crafts for children on my Design a Dream board. On this board there are also layouts, organization ideas, and forms. If you have small children this is a great board to follow. I have tried many of the crafts and the kids have loved them. Follow me: http://pinterest.com/lizwise/designing-a-dream/

BACK TO SCHOOL...

Yes, it is already that time of the year! Summer flew by this year. Now, it is time for sports and after school projects! If you work full-time out of the home and you feel like you are racing against time to get your children from point A to point B...slow down! Have you ever considered hiring someone to pick up your kids, drop them off, and have them stay with your kids until you were able to arrive? Late meeting? Caught in traffic? No one else to call? I can help you out! Need references? I have plenty.

Giving back.....

Lately it has been weighing heavy on my heart to volunteer.  I have spoke with a NICU nurse who was there for us when Preston was sick.  I am going to talk to the Social Worker at the hospital about volunteering my babysitting services.  I would accept donations to pay for supplies/gas but other than that I feel I need to give to those who are struggling with older siblings while their child is sick in the NICU.  I was there and was fortunate to have a support system but there are those who are in there who have no choice or support.  When we stayed at the Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte I felt very strongly about giving back.  I hope that I can be of help to families that are struggling with sibling care.  I feel that things are happening in my life for a reason.  I am just going to do what I feel my heart is telling me to do.  CVMC is currently expanding their Pediatric facility to accommodate the growing need and with that comes more families who are needing help.  I hope that I can provide them a service that helps take away one stress that weighs on their shoulders and hearts.  Sibling Sitting...Giving back.

When the Dinner Bell Rings: The Super Easy Way to Getting Meals Ready ~ DUMP C...:

I tried my first "dump" recipe today and I must say that my house has smelled delicious ALL day and I only spend 5-10 minutes preparing dinner! I changed up the recipe slightly and I put it in the crock pot instead of the oven!

Happiness

We are very fortunate to have filled our part-time spot very quickly! This part-timer is very varied and therefore I am still able to accept drop-in care if someone needs a sitter one day a week or needs to run errands on occasion.  Our contact information is listed below.

Decisions, Decisions....

It has been a rough 6 months with a child who has specialist appointments almost every week.  This has caused me to take a break from working.  I feel that it is time to get back into the swing of things and start making an income! Unfortunately, with the appointments still popping up unexpectedly I do not think I can commit to anyone full-time.  I will be accepting part-time or drop-in care starting in July of 2012.  I have had some referrals and some interested individuals who want full-time care but I do not feel I can commit to them fully.  I am hoping that when my son turns ONE I can get into full-time again.  I am still researching the option of a Drop-In daycare facility but I feel that I need to focus on my children first, volunteering, finding a home church, and creating a serious business plan.  Over the next six months I will be doing everything that I can to get my name out there to show people that I am a committed, respectful, hard working, trustworthy, and a FUN individual who has a passion for children and child care!

Professional Facility

Wise Owl Family Care is in the process of researching a possible expansion! I have been researching locations and feel that Hickory needs a Professional Facility for Drop-In Child Care! As a family care provider I am limited to 2 children a day in my current home.  If a professional commercial building was acquired we would be able to provide care for parents/guardians in a larger area with many more developmentally appropriate toys.  This allows for the Hickory community to have flexible, last minute care at a wider range of hours throughout the day!

Drop-In Information

I am currently offering drop-in daycare for families.  Drop-In daycare is defined as 4 hours or less with parents/guardians being 15 minutes away.  This service is provided to parents who need to go grocery shopping, have a doctors appointment, have multiple children and want to spend one-on-one time with one child, or who just want to take a nap or have a lunch date! I am centrally located in Hickory which means I am 15 minutes to most restaurants, shopping centers, or theaters.

Rates are as follows:

$7.00/hr/child with a minimum of 2 hours.
If you have multiple children sibling discounts will be offered.

This is offered in home therefore I request that you call prior to your need of service to ensure availability.  There are State Guidelines for the amount of young children that can be cared for.

Thank you!
